In hopes of convincing NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, to resign with pressure from CoverGirl, two women, Adele Stan (editor of The American Prospect) and Leslie MacFadyen (an account executive with Photoshop experience) created this image you see above – along with the others you see below.
Their idea was to create powerful images depicting domestic abuse in response to how the NFL recently treated the Ray Rice incident with his wife. Stan’s and MacFadyen’s overall goal is to get NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, to resign – using the NFL’s official beauty sponsor, Cover Girl, for added leverage.
“If we really want to end domestic, partner and family violence, we have to change the culture. The NFL matters because it is a huge cultural institution whose players are heroes to little boys,” says Stan.
What are your thoughts about the incident, how the NFL handled matters and these images? Is it enough to make a difference? Will CoverGirl follow-through and drop down from sponsoring?
