With all of these rappers out here using Pimp C’s name, flow, and rhymes in their music, Money Makin’ Nique actually pays respect to the fallen OG with this track. He even reached out to get a blessing from Pimp’s direct bloodline. Produced by Count Justice, Nique links up with Miloh Smith for this song. Nique is definitely one of the realest out right now. It’s no surprise he pays respect to one of the realest of all time. Rest In Peace to Chad Butler. Much respect to the homie Nique. Download Pimp C here.

Shoutout to the god Melo-X. It’s no secret that the DJ/Producer/Rapper has a thing for Riri. He’s remixed a number of her songs. He’s back now with a super dope remix of Drake’s “Girls Love Beyonce.” Instead, Melo replaces Beyonce with Rihanna for the girls that love to get a little more ratchet. As alway, Melo does an excellent job. Download the remix here. Also, be on the look out for a Greedmont exclusive interview with Melo-x.

Remember Money Making Mitch from Paid in Full? Based on the life of Rich Porter, Mitch was the Harlem kingpin that everyone loved. He had an ambitious survival mentality but balanced it with a charismatic personality. Despite his line of work, everyone gravitated towards Mitch. In New Atlanta, Mitch is Money Makin’ Nique, minus the drug trafficking. Originally born in Massachusetts, Nique is the rapper everyone is trying to work with in Atlanta. He’s a member of the Two9 collective. He embodies that ambitious survival mentality, but also has a charismatic personality. People genuinely gravitate towards Nique.
With the release of his most recent project, The Lion King EP, Nique shows he’s a skilled lyricist with hard hitting rhymes and a classic northern flow. He spits gritty rhymes over hard beats throughout the tape, composed entirely of Arabmuzik beats. Arab’s production style and Nique’s lyrical delivery are the perfect marriage – creating the perfect black hoodie rap.
Nique has a busy year ahead of him. With a steady buzz, Nique isn’t looking to slow down anytime soon. He’s working on a number of projects and performing different shows. He has a project with fellow Two9 artist, Key in the works, as well as a project with producer Childish Major. I met with Money Makin’ Nique at Fly Kix in Atlanta to talk about his recent project and all of the love he’s been receiving from it (more…)

One time for Kendrick Lamar’s Sax Player. King Kendrick has teared down almost every late night show now: Jimmy Fallon, Conan, Letterman, and now Jimmy Kimmel. He performed live jazzy versions of his two most popular songs off GKMC. I love hearing rappers with live instruments. I really posted this just for the Sax player – dude kills it.

When you hear the term “Dorm Fucking Music” what do you think of? If it doesn’t give some type of explicit, exciting, and funny memory, you may need to relive your freshman and/or sophomore year of college. For Alex Jacke, his college experience was enough to inspire his debut project, D.F.M (Dorm Fucking Music). With the help of legendary producer Lancey Stewart, who helped him land a publishing deal with Music Gallery/Universal Music Publishing Group, Alex is quickly becoming the next major R&B star. Wondaland’s George Twopointoh – My 2 Sense

Everyone knows Janelle Monae for being one of the most innovative artists out today with one of the most unique and innovative teams – Wondaland Arts Society. You see them with her at award shows and on tour, all dressed in unison – black tuxedo, white shirt, black tie. Though their wardrobe is somewhat monochromatic, their live shows are loud and vibrant, providing an unforgettable experience for concert-goers. Some of that energy in their live show is credit to stage manager/MC/artist, George Twopointoh. While traveling the world on tour, George compiled a project inspired by his travels called My 2 Sense.
George is more than a team player on the Wondaland squad. He’s an artist in every way, shape, and form. He does his own one man show. He is talented as a visual artist. And this EP shows that George is a gifted lyricist. The name Twopointoh came out of nowhere and pretty much just stuck with him. While installing a new operating system on the computer at the Wondaland studio, producer Nate Wonder named a login name for George and Twopointoh came and stayed. It happened organically. (more…)
