Recently We sat down with Chicago’s own Pavy, Gearing up for the release of his “Theory of Defiance” Project we wanted to pick his brain on a few things. We talk about his background in music as well as the feel of Chicago right now culturally and musically. Pavy will be releasing “Theory of Defiance” next week May 7th. Stay tuned!
- Greedmont – What exactly does “Theory of Defiance mean to you?
Pavy – Theory Of Defiance is basically just about knowing what your odds are and just not caring enough about failing to get up and at least try to achieve your dream. Sometimes defiance has a bad connotation to it, but honestly most great changes in humanity happened because somebody was defiant and challenged the establishment and ignored the odds. So that’s what it means to me forget the odds forget the naysayers and just go get “it”.
- G – What was it like growing up in Chicago, and what type of influence does it have on the music you create?
P – It was cool man you see everything like you see the good then you see the bad right down the street. It’s extremely diverse so whatever type of person you are I’m sure that scene is somewhere here for you. I don’t think it has a effect on my music though like I don’t really even express I’m from Chicago in my music, not that I don’t love my city or anything, I just didn’t want to be that artist that represents a city I want to represent a culture and a type of human being. Plus the Chicago artist that made it before me did that so I didn’t fellow in there foots I want to do my own thing. (more…)
