Bodega x Converse Poorman Weapon
Sunday, March 7th, 2010

Bodega and Converse have joined forces again to re-imagine the Poorman Weapon as a sophisticated beast yet unseen by the world. Transforming the original silhouette into a super high-top that can be worn rolled down, the focus of this project was to achieve harmony between the chosen materials. An extra high refined waxed canvas upper is paired with a supple deerskin lining to make this Poorman’s Weapon seem not quite so poor.

Affordable stylish eyewear. A line of boutique vintage-inspired frames and lenses for savvy urbanites at a revolutionary low price point.

Upload a photo of yourself, and try out looks from the collection.

All are custom made from cellulose acetate (more durable than plastic) with antiscratch polycarbonate prescription lenses (thinner and lighter than glass).

$95 (including shipping).

For every pair sold Warby Parker donates a pair of eyeglasses.

“The founders didn’t enter into the eyewear business blindly.”

Neil Blumenthal spent five years with the non-profit foundation VisionSpring (providing low-cost eyeglasses in developing countries. the first line of reading glasses for populations living on less than $4 a day).

Prices are lowered by cutting out middlemen like optical shops and licensing companies and selling the glasses exclusively online,
