Sometimes in life we tend to forget about the beauty of things that once were, So today were going to discover some abandoned world treasures. Places I would love to explore at some point in my journey of life. The first above is the constellation called “pegasus” which crashed into an airfield near Mcmurdo, Anartica October in 1970.
Next up we have, Pripyat, Ukraine. Pripyat is a ghost town near the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant which was abandoned in 1986 following the Chernobyl diaster. The diaster was a catastrophe that released heavy amounts of radioactive particles into the atmosphere, which spread over much of Western USSR and Europe. (more…)

Reminds me of Mickey Mouse and his infamous bulbous dimpled gloves.
These fatty celluloid sculptures by Erwin Wurm have put me in a whimsical place this morning. Prompting me with thoughts of a curated life in set design and installations produced by the likes of Kanye West, Jeremy Scott, or KAWS creator Brian Donnelly. I enjoy when art is outside the box, in your face, and weird. And I appreciate the abstracted qualities Modern artists have pulled from their psyches and early childhood experiences. Below are shots from Erwin Wurm’s more recent installations and Exhibitions – 2010, 2011.
I found it interesting upon reading an interview about Erwin Wurm that he wanted to study Painting in Vienna but wasn’t accepted into the department, yet rerouted to Sculpture. It’s about making lemonade with the lemons they give you….. He also states in that interview he made the cars fat to represent Wealth, interesting seeing that I had prior been thinking of the the good and the bad behind the idea of Conspicuous Consumption
A great interview and more of Erwin Wurm’s work at the links below
