If there’s anything these kids know about; it’s chasing their dreams, faking it ’til you make it and visualizing your long-term goals in the physical form. A lot of the core principles listed in this book I’m reading right now called “Steal Like An Artist.” Malcolm and Jarad are two sixth-grade metalheads from Flatbush, Brooklyn are on a mission to rock the world with their band, Unlocking the Truth.


Hebru Brantley’s “Penny Candy” Art Exhibition [Event]

Artist and visionary Hebru Brantley’s client list includes Jay-Z, LeBron James, Lil Wayne, Nike, Swizz Beats, Red Bull, Tyra Banks, Lollapalooza, Q-Tip, and Russell Simmons to name a few. His work is critically acclaimed and exhibited worldwide everywhere from the popular Art Basel show in Miami, Florida, to the Tim Yarger Gallery in Beverly Hills, and the American Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden. And now Hebru brings his eclectic talents to Atlanta with a masterful art show affectionately titled, Penny Candy. This complimentary event, hosted by AllWays Open Creative, Skyy Vodka, Sam Flax and the Loews Atlanta Hotel, will be held on June 7, 2013 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Lowes Atlanta Hotel in Midtown Atlanta (1065 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta, GA 30309).

Hebru will exhibit over 40 paintings, drawings and sculptures in the Lowes scenic event space overlooking midtown. Entertainment will be provided by Atlanta’s notable body movers DJ Kemit and Sound Table’s DJ Karl Injex, complimentary candy themed Skyy Vodka cocktails and delectable hors d’oeuvres will be served, and, of course, an assortment of penny candy. Skee.TV presents The Showcase: an inside look at the some of the newest artists on the rise. Get to know Atlanta-based hip hop duo Mach Five. Mach Five, comprised of A. Ware and Corey Davis, brings a southern flavor to a universal style of music. Mixing everything from trap influences to dubstep-rap, their Mach Five already have traction in their favor, gaining collabs with their legendary Atlanta-based counterpart Three Six Mafia, Trinidad James, and many other Atlanta legends. Outside of music, the duo are adept in screenplays, recently putting together their newest feature, We Ballin’, which was featured in XXL.

We Ballin’ is a short film structured around the lives of two friends, hip-hop duo Mach Five, who are on a quest to fund a loft party they’ve been planning for later that evening. Along the journey Corey struggles with the ins & outs of relationship quarrels, after an uneventful encounter a with jealous girlfriend. While A.ware indulges in the fast life following their “Live Fast, Die Young” moniker. [Directed by Corey Davis | Runtime: 28 mins]

Tough Bond, named after a commonly huffed adhesive, is a new documentary about four homeless children in Kenya who band together in a family. It looks devastating. The film was shot, directed and edited by the non-profit, California-based film collective Village Beat, with an original soundtrack by London/Malawi’s The Very Best and Nigerian-born Seye.
