The basic interaction between society and our peers do not match how we are taught to react, and interact, with the world around us. For example, with Christianity being strong and preferred in America, the selling of sex isn’t decreasing with the increasing support of Christianity’s idea of good values and morals. I have a hard time understanding true forgiveness. In Christianity, you are told God will forgive you for your sins, if you repent.
Once a “sin” is completed, I believe it is hard to show true remorse without actions. I believe a person’s actions, plus their new found level of understanding, or awareness, should be fairly obvious. The irony of transformation, and rebirth, is that if the change is too obvious, some of your observers may remain skeptical. These are the type of contradictions that we live with daily. (more…)

I can remember very little about my years in high school. Other than playing team sports, teenage hormones, and art, it wasn’t a choice for me not to graduate. I didn’t quite understand how minimum wage worked, but I saw that fast food didn’t lead to wealth. And as a kid, there were a lot of things I wanted!
I’m unsure where, or when, I developed this early understanding of the socioeconomic status, but I just knew I wanted more. To get more, meant to graduate with a decent GPA and score well enough on the SATs to get into a college. I wasn’t sure what I would major in. I just wanted to live better and had an understanding that education would help me achieve my goals.

I always said to myself that I will use my 20s wisely and so far I’ve done a great job! Yes if you’re in your 20s you have to enjoy your youth but you also have to think deeply about your future and work very hard to secure it. Here is a trailer for a social commentary on being 20 and seeking success entitled 20 Something, which will premier today. You can go to the website www.20somethingseries.com for more info.

My boss Glenn Schick mastered K’LA’s mixtape “Coldest Winter Ever” over here at Glenn Schick Mastering and while he was working on it I was landing a very keen ear. I kept thinking to myself this young lady has so much talent as each song was being rolled. That’s the great thing about working at a mastering facility I hear material way before everyone else hears it and most of the time I can really decipher what sounds great or not. So I really thought K’LA was dope and a couple of months later she’s signed to Def Jam! Good for her and her Musicline team. Shout out to T.A., Jenelle and Scott!

Thoughts often become premeditated actions. When written, they can often form plans. When spoken, they can become an opinion. In theory, that could conclude that thoughts can be transformed into a strong driving power. One that unites and moves a people. But an unspoken thought is merely a dream. (more…)

This is what I love about being from a third world country, these people always find ways even when they don’t have the resources. This is a short Tv documentary from ESPN E.60 where Caddies from an upscale golf club in Mumbai, India, created a version of the game using handmade equipment and a course that winds through the streets and slums. This is amazing.

One of my favorite things to do is watch speeches on life, technology, and art on sites like YouTube. I’m a student, so I’m constantly looking to learn and the internet makes it so easy to hear brilliant minds speak and be candid and insightful. My friend slid me this video of Ms. Hill speaking to a high-school and it really impacted me. Like most of my generation, Lauryn Hill was educated us all with her music about love, life, and God. It’s good to hear the humble voice behind all of the brilliant music. Enjoy.
