Denzel (Mother named him after the actor Denzel Washington), preferbly known as the talented, Forte Bowie, has been making extraordinary music for a few years now and is definitely making a name for himself in the city of Atlanta and beyond. The 22 year-old MC/vocalist/producer/songwriter raiesed on the south side of ATL, is definitely in this class of new, young, refreshing artists coming out of the state of Georgia. But please believe, he’s not the typical artist that music lovers expect to come out of this part of the country. If you haven’t heard any of his music, that’s fine. You may not have known any better but be clear, from hear on out, you may not want to make that mistake again. (more…)

“Being a music artist, I already create visuals through verbal context,” upcoming rapper Cashflow Ellis explains the similarity of being an aspiring rapper and filmmaker.
Born Cameron Ellis, the aspiring rapper became intrigued with the hip-hop genre at the young age of 13. “Everywhere I looked someone was playing rap music,” he adds. Beside the influence from his surroundings, Ellis found the “originality and creativity” of legendary rappers Nas and T.I. as motivation to elevate his career as a rapper. “If one of them called me right now I would drop everything I have and fly exactly where they at,” he jokes.
Ellis, who created his stage name from a venue (of the same name) for performing artists, is from Hammond, IL, a small city located three hours away from Chicago. Being so close from the city that birthed legendary rappers Common and Kanye West, Ellis doesn’t feel the pressure to compete or try to be better than them. “I honor the hip-hop legends in the rap game and respect what they did for the younger breed of emcees,” he says. “They opened doors for Chicago artists to be heard and seen.”
Ellis, now 17, attends Columbia College in Chicago, IL with a major in film and video. He also has a minor in acting with a concentration in screenwriting. “Most successful people in the entertainment and music business don’t quite have the plan b or education tools needed for a background or a degree to fall back on,” he explains his reason for pursuing a higher education in spite of his ambitions of becoming a rapper. He also says that he feels comfortable in his studies and its relation to the hip-hop culture.

If I told you how this interview came together, you probably wouldn’t believe me. Kevin Storey, 1/2 of the team that puts together the famous ‘surprise party’ and the head honcho over at Proper & Co.; he is the go-to-guy for advice on creative marketing. His work with Stalley, Shawn Chrystopher, and other well-known artists are a few examples. I recently had the opportunity to chat with Kev (my new favorite homie) on his new placement at Epic Records, music, and the great subject of “life”. (more…)

Greedmont Park: For those that don’t know you, because you seemingly came out of nowhere and onto the scene with some fanfare….. speak on who you are and what’s your music about?
Honors English: My artist name is Honors English. My intention as an artist is to elevate hip-hop as an art to its highest expression. I intend to make songs that are more musically complex then the best of Mozart, more visual then the best of Spielberg and/ or catchier then the biggest hits by Coldplay. I chose to focus on innovation, creativity, positivity and producing great music. Personally I am not preoccupied with being underground or commercial but instead being the best in both. Hailing from Trenton, New Jersey I depict the reality of the hood without glorifying the negative elements. My music provides and fresh, reflective and sincere view on life while being as entertaining as possible. By the way I can rap really good…..
GP: Yeah we kinda heard that too…Whats the meaning behind the name Honors English? (more…)

Sway always comes through with the best interviews with artists, although I don’t think i could ever label Ms. Rose as such. On RAPFIXlive Amber Rose breaks down into boo-hoo tears expressing her bottled-up pain over Kanye’s fans bullying her in the streets. She literally has to pause and try to collect herself, while Sway is being hilarious with his “take yah time, take yah time” uncle-of-comfort comments.
“I’m crying because I don’t deserve to be bullied like that. Like, I’m a nice girl, I don’t bother anybody, and I keep my mouth shut because I don’t want any trouble.”
Still trying to figure out this girl’s purpose of significance?–yeah, same here.
