The Boy Illinois‘ smoove “Ight” track featuring Ebonique is consistent. I haven’t decided if it’s Illi’s flow or Rel Elite’s ability to make a banging beat. Either way, these dudes are becoming like Shaq and Penny for me. Mixed and mastered by The Ambulance Factory.

I don’t know which I’m anticipating more: the release of OMFGOD or Jay Electronica’s Act II: Patents of Nobility. Both are rumored to be finished, but most likely Yasiin Bey and Mannie Fresh will release sooner. I can’t say I’m mad about that either. Thank you, sweet Black Jesus!

How dope are these visuals!? There is so much to look at in this video! Laura Mvula’s message to listeners is apparent very early in the song. “I will never be what you want and that’s alright. Coz my skin ain’t light, and my body ain’t tight, and that’s alright.” How powerful is that? Reminiscent of the talented Janelle Monaé, Laura continues to define her position as a black woman in the music business.

All trippy and what not. Azealia Banks releases yet another video for her track “No Problems”, one of many to feature on her sophomore album Broke With Expensive Taste. An assortment of footage from her performance, some chick that got hit with a pound of cake, and twerking – by way of Miami’s Ultra Music Festival. Shot by Harlem Shake Remix’s own Rony Alwin.

One time for Kendrick Lamar’s Sax Player. King Kendrick has teared down almost every late night show now: Jimmy Fallon, Conan, Letterman, and now Jimmy Kimmel. He performed live jazzy versions of his two most popular songs off GKMC. I love hearing rappers with live instruments. I really posted this just for the Sax player – dude kills it.

This is hilarious! While in Toronto, Tyler the Creator is asked to prank call an interviewer’s friend, he stepped up to the challenge, and came up with an elaborate story on the spot about how someone got hit by a car crossing the street near the friend’s house while going to get a bagel.

The big homie, Project Pat sat down with the guys from Fader after his show in New York to talk about the two projects he has coming (Mista Don’t Play 2 & Cheese and Dope 2).
According to him, the secret of his youthful appearance is a very basic and oft-overlooked essential of tour life called self-restraint. This seems unlikely if not veritably un-possible when your brother and tourmate is king of the turn-up, Juicy J, but Pat has managed to stick around this long and make more great music while he’s done it. Sitting down with us after his recent NYC show, he gave us some insight into the two projects he has coming (one of which is the highly anticipated Mista Don’t Play 2), what he does in the rare instances that he gets back to Memphis and how his ultimate goal is just to please the people.
