Greedmont x Pavy [Interview]

Monday, April 29, 2013 by | No Comments | Category: Interview, Music, Rap

Recently We sat down with Chicago’s own Pavy, Gearing up for the release of his “Theory of Defiance” Project we wanted to pick his brain on a few things. We talk about his background in music as well as the feel of Chicago right now culturally and musically. Pavy will be releasing “Theory of Defiance” next week May 7th. Stay tuned!
  • Greedmont – What exactly does “Theory of Defiance mean to you?
Pavy – Theory Of Defiance is basically just about knowing what your odds are and just not caring enough about failing to get up and at least try to achieve your dream. Sometimes defiance has a bad connotation to it, but honestly most great changes in humanity happened because somebody was defiant and challenged the establishment and ignored the odds. So that’s what it means to me forget the odds forget the naysayers and just go get “it”.
  • G – What was it like growing up in Chicago, and what type of influence does it have on the music you create?
P – It was cool man you see everything like you see the good then you see the bad right down the street. It’s extremely diverse so whatever type of person you are I’m sure that scene is somewhere here for you. I don’t think it has a effect on my music though like I don’t really even express I’m from Chicago in my music, not that I don’t love my city or anything, I just didn’t want to be that artist that represents a city I want to represent a culture and a type of human being. Plus the Chicago artist that made it before me did that so I didn’t fellow in there foots I want to do my own thing.  (more…)

Greedmont x Money Makin’ Nique [Interview]

Friday, April 26, 2013 by | No Comments | Category: Interview, Music, Rap

Remember Money Making Mitch from Paid in Full? Based on the life of Rich Porter, Mitch was the Harlem kingpin that everyone loved. He had an ambitious survival mentality but balanced it with a charismatic personality. Despite his line of work, everyone gravitated towards Mitch. In New Atlanta, Mitch is Money Makin’ Nique, minus the drug trafficking. Originally born in Massachusetts, Nique is the rapper everyone is trying to work with in Atlanta. He’s a member of the Two9 collective. He embodies that ambitious survival mentality, but also has a charismatic personality. People genuinely gravitate towards Nique.

With the release of his most recent project, The Lion King EP, Nique shows he’s a skilled lyricist with hard hitting rhymes and a classic northern flow. He spits gritty rhymes over hard beats throughout the tape, composed entirely of Arabmuzik beats. Arab’s production style and Nique’s lyrical delivery are the perfect marriage – creating the perfect black hoodie rap.

Nique has a busy year ahead of him. With a steady buzz, Nique isn’t looking to slow down anytime soon. He’s working on a number of projects and performing different shows. He has a project with fellow Two9 artist, Key in the works, as well as a project with producer Childish Major. I met with Money Makin’ Nique at Fly Kix in Atlanta to talk about his recent project and all of the love he’s been receiving from it (more…)

You may know her most from her work with the talented/breakthrough producer, Childish Major and rapper Rome Fortune (Dating all the way back to their tape together, V O Y E U R). Candice decides to release a track of her own, produced by Ensayne Wayne. She doesn’t disappoint.

I’ve been listening to this guy’s project for the past few weeks, steadily wondering, can Will Hill one of the best rappers in this up and coming? The answer is still up in the air but with this project, Ramadan, he could well on his way. This 13-track mixtape is filled with records that “Real Hip Hop” fans can enjoy but the common music lover can as well. With highlights like “Floatin pt. 2″ (video above), “hi” and “Flatline”, Will Hill shows he has plenty of potential. Features from SUBMiT, Zip Kennedy and more, I’m gonna keep my eye on this young MC for what he has to offer in the future. Download Ramadan HERE
