Alexis Glenn – “Be Wary” [Video]

Probably one of the most slept on projects of 2013 was Alexis Glenn’s Irrational Illustrations at Heart. With that being said, she keeps her campaign going strong by dropping a video for the first track on the EP, and my personal favorite, “Be Wary” directed by Sean Kelly. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Mick Jenkins – “Martyrs” [Video]

Looks like Chicago has yet another dope act coming out strong. This one goes by the name of Mick Jenkins. Just recently am I starting to hear about this guy, but based off this “Martyrs” video, I can see why. If I had to describe his style of music, or at least this specific record, I would call it eerie Drill music. His voice matches perfectly with the slow tempo of this track. I’m interested what he creates from this point.

CKENT

One of my homies from the AUC told me about this kid CKENT who also attends school over there and is is building a loyal fan base. He has a nice record with this “Poppa Addy” produced by Zaytoven. It’s got that bounce.

Tay Walker (of The Internet) – “Karma” [VIDEO]

I find myself continuously impressed by the amount of talent that surrounds Odd Future. Despite the shock value previously associated with the collective, their talent(s) shouldn’t be overlooked.

Tay Walker of the Odd Future affiliated, The Internet, released a video to a track called “Karma” that I instantly liked. “Who is this and where can I hear more,” I curiously wondered. Found out this keyboardist and a vocalist is working on a new solo project called “25 Hours a Day,” which I am definitely anticipating.

Listen to a stream of his “Tay Walker EP” from his Soundcloud while we wait for its Spring release.

Last year, I moved into a new house, off of Cascade Ave, in the West End community of Atlanta. For a few weeks, I stayed there with nothing but a record player and a bottle of Whiskey. I wasn’t in a rush to purchase a bed or couch, the bare space; hard wood floors and white walls inspired me. I sat on the floor with Jack and began listening to Outkast on vinyl.  (more…)
