Last year, I moved into a new house, off of Cascade Ave, in the West End community of Atlanta. For a few weeks, I stayed there with nothing but a record player and a bottle of Whiskey. I wasn’t in a rush to purchase a bed or couch, the bare space; hard wood floors and white walls inspired me. I sat on the floor with Jack and began listening to Outkast on vinyl. (more…)

This is a dope surprise! Sampha is letting listeners delve deeper into his catalogue today with the digital re-release of his 2010 Sundanza EP, originally available as a limited pressing on Young Turks
“Sundanza is a collection of early productions of mine. While away on some adventures away from home my brother accidentally deleted the master files from my computer so they exist only as low quality unmastered mp3s. It was originally released on very limited hand sprayed CD-R’s in 2010, but I decided to make it available again with all income going directly to the Youth Cancer Trust.” -Sampha

Here’s the latest installment from A.V. Rockell’s Open City Mixtape web-series. This is about a precocious young boy from the Bronx, named Jahlil, who is often left alone due to his struggling mother’s work schedule. So he spends a majority of his time roaming New York City’s subway system, picking people’s pockets only to discover that the subway is no place for bad little boys. This episode is a little longer than the previous ones, and is my personal favorite thus far. Check it out above and enjoy, for more info on Open City Mixtape click HERE.
