P.O.P. (Power of Pussy): Part 1 [Web Series]

Monday, December 17, 2012 by | No Comments | Category: Culture, Daily Inspiration, Entertainment, Video

“Power of Pussy” is a multi part documentary series about some of the most celebrated and vindicated individuals in our culture; strippers. These women are sometimes classified as lowlifes of society, many thought to be streetwalking drug fiends with no regard for others. Some are thought to be impressionable young women, taken advantage of by men overseeing a seedy underworld. These are assumptions often made without any context from the women who live this life. This short documentary is a small look at a world many have only heard about, shedding light on how things really work for many women who have put on a g-string at some point in their lives.

The first episode introduces us to GiGi Maguire, Cali and Simone, all dance or have danced at nationally renowned club Magic City. What does one have to possess to even begin navigating the business of strip; these ladies shine light on that question and others. [Directed by Artemus Jenkins]

Kilo Kish by Artemus Jenkins [Photos]

I had the pleasure of spending the day with Kilo Kish during her time in Atlanta, for the 5th Annual Atlanta Indie Fest. First off, let me say it was a very easy going experience, I wouldn’t imagine Kish would strike many as a diva, but even still people mythologize anyone who is any kind of famous. So I’m letting you know she is as down to earth and sweet as she seems, so if you see her in the street don’t be a creep and whisper “oh shit son, I think that’s Kilo Kish!” Go say something! Her manager J Scott let me know it was her first time in Atlanta, so I figured we should go to a couple spots to kill some time until her performance. [Words & Photos by Artemus Jenkins]

It’s not an official trip to the south unless Waffle House is involved, so that was the first stop of the day. It was brought to my attention Kish pretty much had every breakfast item there was on one plate and ate it all. Little people are such fat asses on the inside. (more…)
