When one of my old college colleagues hit me up a few weeks back about DWHY he nonchalantly said, “He looks like he just walked off the set of Gossip Girl.” I immediately laughed. Sure, he mentioned that he was one of the most refreshing lyricists he has heard in a long time but it was something about picturing a rapper of any caliber proudly toting the effortless debonair Chuck Bass swag juxtaposed with Chuck D that caught my attention. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that I am a devout Gossip Girl viewer and it also doesn’t hurt that my introduction to DWHY is over Childish Gambino‘s “Freaks and Geeks” beat. Now, I’m not a great rap analyst so I won’t analyze this joint for you. All I’ll say is: watch the video and watch out for those punchlines.
