Last night Young Jeezy gave performance in NY at the Highline Ballroom to celebrate the five year anniversary of his first album, TM 101. Outside was packed with record executives, media, entourages, and people who thought they were important enough to skip the line. But inside was nothing but real fans excited to see Jeezy. The crowd was full of blue bandanas, black shades, and twisted fingers in the air. (more…)

My boss Glenn Schick mastered K’LA’s mixtape “Coldest Winter Ever” over here at Glenn Schick Mastering and while he was working on it I was landing a very keen ear. I kept thinking to myself this young lady has so much talent as each song was being rolled. That’s the great thing about working at a mastering facility I hear material way before everyone else hears it and most of the time I can really decipher what sounds great or not. So I really thought K’LA was dope and a couple of months later she’s signed to Def Jam! Good for her and her Musicline team. Shout out to T.A., Jenelle and Scott!

Def Jam’s R&B group Brutha, who made there premiere to the world on BET’s “reality” show Brother to “Brutha,” is gearing up for their sophmore outing. Comprising of the five Harrell brothers — Anthony, Jared, Jacob, Cheyenne and Grady
Here is the new single by Brutha, titled, “One Day On This Earth,” it is produced by Mysto & Pizzi. This was meant to be for R. Kelly’s last album,Untitled, but unfortunately it was leaked a bit to early so he gave it away to Brutha. (video was shot by Dale Resteghini aka “Rage” (diddy,falloutboy,souljaboy,dipset,etc..)
Heres a mixtape they released to hold you til “Vacancy” drops,, I’m personally pullin for these guys..the last album hadn’t take off as projected but the untimely death of Shakir Stewart had to of impacted their project somewhat then the push of the 1st single was the wrong pick in my view cuz the fam got talent..aint no niggas jammin in the whip to “i cant hear the music” plus Fabs dumb-down modern day half ass flow tho #yeahisaidit

Here’s some snapshot’s I took of Jay-z in the 1985 Hip-Hop film, Krush Groove, a spin-off on the trails and tribulations Russell Simmons faced when starting his record label, Def Jam. Somehow I watched this movie several times throughout my life and never noticed his small cameo. And here I was thinking that he was busy selling crack back in these days…
