There’s even a scene where he’s recording his verse for Greedmont Park’s own, Mach Five’s “Molly On My Tongue” off of their Ratchet Shit Vol. 1 EP. Don’t sleep and check it out.

By Branden Roane
Danny Brown is a hybrid. Consisting of what exactly, that remains to be seen. The 30-year-old Detroit rapper came up with the nickname one day while smoking weed and writing and it stuck. His mixtape bearing the name of that moniker, “The Hybrid,” helped bring his skills to the forefront of the underground scene in the D. After being featured on albums by Black Milk, Random Axe and the legendary J Dilla, Danny Brown is trying to take his skills to another level.
Brown, who gets his rap alias from a pimp-turned-rapper on the Hughes Brother’s documentary, American Pimp, recollects always having a love for his cra
“In the 1st grade, I told the whole class I wanted to be a rapper,” recalls Brown. “They all laughed at me.”
As time passed, Brown found himself standing on the corner slanging. It wasn’t until he got locked up a few times and spending a year in jail for probation violation that he decided to make rhyming a full-time job.
“Some people can take that shit; some people can’t,” explained Brown. “I was just one of them folks that did my time and I ain’t trying to do no more!”
A couple of mixtapes and features later, Danny Brown is trying to make that next step. He garners a lot of attention. With a hairstyle from an 80’s hair band and the pants to match, most people write him off as a hipster. (Sean Price gave him a shout out on the track, “Barry Ruff”: Tight pants niggas, can’t stand them now/Fuck ‘em all, except Danny Brown.) But as soon as he starts spitting rhymes with his nasal delivery, he quickly kills all notions. I caught up with him recently to talk about Detroit, signing to a label and his new album.

“P. Floyd, 20-year old artist out of the state of Michigan presents to you his mixtape “You Here Yet.” You may have never heard of the kid before now, but don’t overlook him. Floyd brings a smooth flow and consist delivery and lyrics to each beat he puts his voice on. Unlike a lot of artists, he sticks to what he knows and what he likes. Floyd is an artist that prides himself on being nothing but himself. This mixtape will show Floyd’s creativeness, raw talent, and ability to work with limited resources. This may be the smoothest breath of fresh air you have ever taken.”

Revive know for bringing some of the best and highest fashion to Michigan and even state side is doing another collaboration with the infamous Dr.Romanelli. Last time DRX and Revive collabed on a project known as “The Detroit Collection”. The collection consisted of outer wear designed after Detroit sports teams. All of the pieces contained parts of various Detroit teams respectable jerseys. The new collection will take inspiration from the blue collar working class that the Motor City has gotten much of its fame for. Dr.Romenlli will also be designing logos for Revives next big project. A short visual will be released soon though it’s content is still a large secret.
