Hands down ERYKAH BADU, is my ALL time favorite artist. Never one to disappoint, she definitely brought it with the release of her lastest album, New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh. While the album is beyond hot, you can’t forget about the beautiful album cover!

The artist responsible for the cover and booklet art is EMEK. EMEK is known widely as a poster artist and gained popularity in the 1990′s for his work with alternative bands such as Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Tool and Marilyn Manson. His style is a unique infusion of the 60′s psychedelic art and the 90′s post-industrial iconography. He references his work as “The Thinking Man’s Poster Art” and rightly so; his limited edition hand-drawn, hand silkscreened posters always include messages laced with humor, socio-political commentary and fantasy hidden in the tiniest of details. Sorry, I’ve been going a little bit of Badu crazy since this album released last week. The woman has an impeccable fashion sense. Lately, she’s been wearing these amazing pair of sunglasses.

(I’ve finally stumbled across the designer) The lovely, Ann-Sofie Back has created these dripping rose colored lens. Too bad they’re about $300 and sold out. Ouch, blocking the sun is pricey!

Tomorrow is the day; Part Two: Return of the Ankh.  The video for “Window Seat” was inspired by the  dance punk duo, Matt and Kim. Two completely different sounds with similar concepts. Check them both out.

My anticipation for this album is building up and March 30th seems so far. Look at the crazy kaleidoscope effects!
