Movie Review: Hanna

The Premise: A girl named Hanna lives alone in the woods with her father who’s been slowly conditioning and training her to be a bad-ass assassin since she was a wee’one. Her Daddy, a former assassin himself, sends her back to civilization when she hits puberty, alone with a ‘mission’ with orders to kill…somebody. blah blah blah. It’s basically a low-budget Bourne Identity with prepubescent blonde girl who definitely no Matt Damon.

Analysis: The trailer of this movie looked very interesting, to me at least, with the promise of fast-paced action, cool stylized fight scenes, and a techno spy thriller. You get all that, but it’s very low rent. The movie ultimate set back is it’s PG-13, with all the interesting bits being edited to shit and chopped up to hide the absence of hardcore violence. The story is pretty one note. There isn’t really any major plot holes, but there isn’t really much to this story that you haven’t seen before. It’s basically a cat and mouse movie with a lil’ blondie running in slow motion and looking all puppy eyed into the camera most of the time. There is action, but none of it is really note worthy either. Hanna isn’t so much a bad movie, as it is just not GOOD.  Maybe in the Director’s cut  the edited scenes will be returned  back to Rated R form and the blood and guts, and the possible lesbian sex scene that ended up on the director’s floor shall be returned. But the movie as is just OK! Nothing to write home about. Wait for it on NetFlicks

Verdict: Basically a prepubescent version of Salt aimed at pedophiles.

Grade: C+

The Chemical Brothers-Container Park [HANNA]

Hanna director Joe Wright confirmed the  British digital songs duo The Chemical Brothers who’s scoring the whole movie, a lot like the French electronic music duo Daft Punk scored Tron Legacy.
