The Boy Illinois ft. Ebonique – “Ight” [AUDIO]

Tuesday, April 2, 2013 by | No Comments | Category: Entertainment, Music, Rap

The Boy Illinois‘ smoove “Ight” track featuring Ebonique is consistent.  I haven’t decided if it’s Illi’s flow or Rel Elite’s ability to make a banging beat. Either way, these dudes are becoming like Shaq and Penny for me. Mixed and mastered by The Ambulance Factory.

Volume Visual for Hip-Hop [Article]

Thursday, March 21, 2013 by | No Comments | Category: Culture, Music

If you’re familiar with the new community of Blogger, Vloggers, Internet Personalities, you’ve probably heard of the various online entities that have come to support these folks: Nowmanifest, Style Haul, Digital Brand Architects – just to name a few. Just this month, during the annual conference and festival by the name of SXSW, Jabari Johnson (Jabari Presents) and Benoni Tagoe (The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl) released a long awaited project by the name of Volume Visual. A multi-channel Youtube network with a focus on Hip-Hop (artists, sites that cover Hip-Hop interviews, and more.

In the last few years, we’ve seen an apparent shift within the online community itself and most significantly in the amount of fanbase gained by not-so-famous or unsigned personalities. Calling a symbolic amount of attention by brands, researchers, and corporate officials: trying to understand how-on-earth they can use this as a new tool to increase profitability. Although not all of these unsigned acts or individual, self owned creators (without the power of a label, marketing agencies, or PR firm) can do it alone. (more…)

BNEW – “A Rolling Stone” [MIXTAPE]

Thursday, March 7, 2013 by | No Comments | Category: Entertainment, Music, Rap

It was quite a wait for BNEW’s “A Rolling Stone” to be released. I’m glad it’s finally out, although one of my favorite tracks didn’t make the cut. I’ve always liked dude’s voice and delivery. It’s always appreciated when a rapper actually has something to say. There are many quality artists these days who get overlooked or underrated. Is the industry over saturated? Is it the time we live in? It’s difficult to say. All I know is Hip-Hop is far from dead. Production by Southstar Sounds. Artwork by FlyWidit Customs.

The Boy Illinois – “The Memoirs of Gilbert Gastón” [MIXTAPE]

Sunday, February 10, 2013 by | 1 Comment; | Category: Art, Design, Downloads, Music, Rap

I’m posting this months late(r), but what can I say. Gotta love technology! I’ve been jamming this project since it’s release in December of last year. The Boy Illinois is known for his catchy hooks and subtle consciousness in his music. Illinois and one of the main producers, Rel Elite, did a nice job creating a production that complimented the lyricism well. Definitely proud to be involved in designing the artwork for this project.

BNEW ft. Fatz Domino – “In Session Flow” [VIDEO]

Saturday, February 9, 2013 by | No Comments | Category: Entertainment, Music, Music Video, Rap, Short Film, Video

I’m not sure when this drops, but I’m intrigued. BNEW dropped what I would like to call a short film teaser for his soon to be released project, A Rolling Stone. The visuals preview two of the tracks from his project, “Paying Dues” and “New God Flow” featuring Fatz Domino. Three if you include the track “Gucci Money” that plays at the beginning. I like the way they did that.
