Kendrick Lamar on Jimmy Kimmel

Saturday, March 30, 2013 by | No Comments | Category: Music, Rap, RnB/Jazz/Soul

One time for Kendrick Lamar’s Sax Player. King Kendrick has teared down almost every late night show now: Jimmy Fallon, Conan, Letterman, and now Jimmy Kimmel. He performed live jazzy versions of his two most popular songs off GKMC. I love hearing rappers with live instruments. I really posted this just for the Sax player – dude kills it.

I get some straight up chilled vibes in this latest video, “Sundown”, by UK artists Jay Prince. Shot in London and Zurich, with direction by Jay (himself) and Jazzo & Melodiesinfonie, this latest visual is sure to be on his upcoming project.

Kydd – “The Righteous LP” [Album]

Friday, August 3, 2012 by | No Comments | Category: Eletronic, Music, Rap

I like how Austin MC Kydd’s “The Righteous LP’s” artwork is full of trippy, unsavory things. Released on July 31st, I wanted to give this 3 solid listens before I said anything. I liked it after the first. Kydd’s production continues to impress me. I still think somebody should have rapped over that dope intro. There wasn’t as many tracks on here as his “Sounds In My Head Pt. 2″ released in March, but it still had some nice featured artists. Listen to “Texas Heat.” It’s going to be my go-to track for the next few Summers!

If I told you how this interview came together, you probably wouldn’t believe me. Kevin Storey, 1/2 of the team that puts together the famous ‘surprise party’ and the head honcho over at Proper & Co.; he is the go-to-guy for advice on creative marketing. His work with Stalley, Shawn Chrystopher, and other well-known artists are a few examples. I recently had the opportunity to chat with Kev (my new favorite homie) on his new placement at Epic Records, music, and the great subject of “life”. (more…)

Lena Horne personified beauty, grace and talent. She made it possible for us to be able to enjoy entertainers like Halle Berry, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Janet Jackson, and Whitney Houston. Ms. Horne knocked down racial barriers all while keeping perfect pitch. It’s a sad day to some, but it’s a great time to remember what a great deal she did for art, film, and music. She lived a full life and was considered iconic and legendary way before her death which is a blessing in world that can forget so easily. Enjoy her performance of one of my favorite songs, “Stormy Weather”.
