The newly released VMAN magazine cover featuring Kanye West is definitely dope. I must say that putting a dollar in one in ten covers is balla. Although I think they they should have put a ‘Ben Franklin’ in one in ten magazines as appears on the purchases of the remaining unfortunate consumers. The shoot theme was titled “No Risk, No Reward: The Thrill of the Game”, featuring photography from Karl Lagerfeld.

Chanel fashion shows have always stirred controversy amongst the in and in style crowd, but the show that took place a day ago, was in it’s own category. Karl Lagerfeld, having felt the lash of criticism and mockery when he stated last fall that full figured women have no place in fashion, dared to be bold, not only with his garments, but with the models that he casted for the exhibition of the Chanel Resort 2011 Collection. Crystal Renn, had front row spectators and the commoners pushing up against the barricades, doing double takes as she walked the Chanel show, twice. Having accomplished the feat of being the first full figured girl publicly adorned and campaigning Chanel, during Lagerfeld’s reign, on a cobble stone sidewalk in St. Tropez where the show was staged, Crystal Renn’s appearance has everyone talking. Andre Leon Talley, fashions greatest critic said that her appearance was ‘groudbreaking’.
While watching the show, I remember being so confused as to why the girls looked different and…happy. They didn’t have the usual pout, clenched jaw and puckered eyebrow look that I’ve seen in all the other shows. This Chanel show was real. Every model showcased their personality with the pieces that they wore, whether it was sporty, boho, rock and roll. This show has got millions asking: Plus size at the Ready-to-Wear at fashion week? or even Paris for the couture show? I guess it’s something that we’ll have to wait and see.
