ANR is some of Miami’s finest. They’re like a buddy cop duo whose lethal weapon is their interminable arsenal of experimental pop hooks. Take Exhibit A-side: “It’s Around You”. The radio filter intro foreshadows the immortal feeling you get when the synths surges drop nearly a minute in and the track engulfs you in a shimmering galaxy of anthemic choral shouts and pop majesty. Each humming pulse is like lightning in a bottle until drum layers and vocal layers are added and the chorus ultimately crashes into beautiful oblivion. It’s strangely uplifting despite the minor chords and elegiac harmonies, perhaps thanks to the soft xylophone drops and a masterfully orchestrated brass section. As the moody trombones are counterbalanced by the kind of adulatory trumpets Mark Ronson would be proud of.

I had a chance to steal a few minutes away from my workaholic homie Dashius Clay and pick his brain for a few. Interesting guy, I tell you. Workaholic just may be an understatement as Dashius Clay counts himself as an artist/songwriter/producer and engineer. Completing his own project entitled DASHOMNIA in 2009 and working with the likes of Lady Gaga, KRS-One, Mohiganga, JR Writer, The Tings Tings, Kid Sister, John Legend, Lyrically Insane, MSTRKRFT, Ny$e, Pretty Money, Mr. Cheeks, OverDos, Ottey, ENoFF, Grenade126, Corbin, Genova, Trapp Mendoza, Shae from Dade, JP, Grim Reapa and WASI SLP to name just a few. Originally from Cali, Colombia and brought up in a family full of musicans, Dashius can contribute his Latin upbringing to his unique style and sound. Meet Dashius Clay, and find out why so many people are quickly becoming DASHAHOLIKS!

Okay, this is just a model but Oppenheim Architecture + Design has unveiled plans to build this art storage facility in Miami. The 11 story, 140,000 square foot building will store and display artwork by emerging and established artists, and is expected to be completed in 2010. It kinda reminds me of a stack of Kleenex boxes. lol.
