Just as his breakout smash “Right One Wrong Time” hits radio, Spree Wilson releases his latest single “All I Need” featuring Go Dreamer. Produced by The Flush, “All I Need” is a subtle slow jam reminiscent of the New Jack Swing era. Keeping up with his ode to Atlanta bass music, Spree croons over a chopped and screwed refrain from Ghost Town DJ’s now classic “My Boo”. How dope are these visuals!? There is so much to look at in this video! Laura Mvula’s message to listeners is apparent very early in the song. “I will never be what you want and that’s alright. Coz my skin ain’t light, and my body ain’t tight, and that’s alright.” How powerful is that? Reminiscent of the talented Janelle Monaé, Laura continues to define her position as a black woman in the music business.

It was quite a wait for BNEW’s “A Rolling Stone” to be released. I’m glad it’s finally out, although one of my favorite tracks didn’t make the cut. I’ve always liked dude’s voice and delivery. It’s always appreciated when a rapper actually has something to say. There are many quality artists these days who get overlooked or underrated. Is the industry over saturated?
