Sunday, April 10, 2011 by | No Comments | Category: Culture

No matter how hard you may try, you simply can not deny the universal pop appeal of Nicki Minaj. If she isn’t blowing naysayers away with her hard-hitting lyrics and witty wordplay you can find her posing gracefully between the pages of your favorite glossy. This time, she has landed the cover of ELLE magazine’s music issue. This feature, penned by Hamish Anderson, explores Nicki’s ability to dominate in a male-dominated field, the role of fashion in her career and, of course, her music. Outside of Nicki Minaj, this issue features Gwen Stefani, Adele, Stevie Nicks, Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Florence Welch just to name a few. You can pick up this issue on April 12th. Check more pictures from Nicki Minaj’s ELLE editorial after the jump.

Greedmont Park Magazine #2 [Winter 2011]

Tuesday, February 1, 2011 by | No Comments | Category: Uncategorized

In a world full of self righteousness, it takes strong, creative people to deny the boxes society tries to force upon us. Greedmont Park is continuously smashing these boxes and shedding labels in the process. Our second issue of Greedmont Park is exploring the vices and sins that we have all fallen victim to on this Earth. We decided that there was no other artist that could explicate to our audience the Godly and devilish in all of us, quite like Tupac Shakur. To our generation, Tupac Shakur is more than a rapper, but a Messiah, a prophet. Take this controversial trip with Greedmont Park through everything from WikiLeaks controversy, the on-going trend of Homophobia in Hip-Hop, the taboos of sex, and everything in-between. We talked to artists like Uffie and Mr. Hudson along with artists like Miya Bailey and Melody Ehsani who were brave and willing to confess all their sins and secrets to Greedmont Park, Catholic confessional style.

Our online followers are lucky enough to see it first! Bundles of hard copies are being mass produced by our printer and distributed across America (more specifically NY, LA, and ATL) as we speak! Get ready for the second issue of Greedmont Park magazine where art, sex and sin are synonymous. Misfits, rebels, nonconformists, innovators, and outcasts welcome to Greedmontpark.com!

Myles E. Johnson Featured on Art Nouveau Magazine

Friday, January 28, 2011 by | No Comments | Category: Entertainment, Music, Rap

Every now and again, I get the chance to runaway from home and do write-ups for other great blogs and magazines! A article I wrote entitled “Plastic Vs. Flesh: The Nicki Minaj & Lauryn Hill Conversation Ignites” has just gone digital thanks to our good friends at Art Nouveau Magazine (www.an-mag.com). It’s controversial, it will anger some and make sense to plenty. Underneath the comparisons, it sparks a real conversation about our generation’s standards and what makes a icon or legend in 2011. CLICK HER to read it and enjoy.

Nicki Minaj – Moment 4 Life (feat. Drake) [video snippet]

Say what you like, but I always loved Nicki Minaj. Her rhymes, her ass, her wigs, and her fashion choices are all debatable, but her hustle and her vision isn’t. Here’s a peak at her new video with Drake from her platinum-selling “Pink Friday” LP called “Moment 4 Life”. In a stroke of barbie genius, it takes a Cinderella gone Hip-Hop theme. In 2011, pop connoisseurs will have to recognize Nicki Minaj as a major player in pop culture. She single-handily is demoralizing and empowering the small genre of female Hip-Hop one metaphor at a time.

Year in Review: The Year Hip-Hop Took the Throne

Friday, December 31, 2010 by | 5 Comments; | Category: Alternative/Rock, Electro, Entertainment, Music, Pop, Rap, RnB/Jazz/Soul

End of the year festivities usually call for excessive amounts of alcohol, herbal consumptions and a single round table to discuss the past and what’s in store for the future. Hip-hop took a left turn during the year of 2010 and parked its vehicles in the lot of many listeners’ computer hard drives. Leaked singles, mixtapes and the infamous weekly music series took over blogs, tweets and Facebook shared link posts. If one was not fully aware of what the art of hip-hop consist of, then this year definitely helped in their reassurance. Grab a seat at the round table while Greedmont Park reflects on the year that hip-hop arose from [what Nas may say] the dead and manifested the origin of creativity in ways that pleased the ear and inspired the mind. All That Glitters & Glows: Melody Ehsani [Interview]

Thursday, December 30, 2010 by | 6 Comments; | Category: Art, Design

I recall early mornings waiting on my mother to get ready to go to work and drop me off to school in New York. There, admiring my single, working mother I gained essential fashion rules. More times than not, I find myself breaking those rules like a true style renegade. I wear black with brown, I mix prints, and sometimes if the mood is right I stack on more instead of taking things off. However, some things have never been shattered by my rebellion. My mother told me that accessories are the cornerstone of any fashionista’s closet and shoes are the punctuation to every outfit.

With that being embedded in me as a child like the pledge of allegiance, it makes sense that designer and visionary, Melody Ehsani is someone who I had to sit-down with and get to know a little better.

Melody Ehsani is the designer behind some of the hot accessories you see being rocked by Beyonce, Jazmine Sullivan, Keri Hilson, and Nicki Minaj. Her bold, imaginative accessories are also paired with equally breath-taking shoes that balance beautifully between feminine elegance and modern funk. It’s no surprise that Melody Ehsani is as sweet and interesting as her designs.
