angie

angie luvara, who spells her name with lower case letters to put focus on the works she creates and not who she is, just as author/feminist bell hooks, is an amazing, ‘tatted-up’, 30-year-old photographer, college professor, and social injustice fighter, hailing from Keyser, West Virginia. The owner of 12 cameras, ranging from editions made in 1975 to today, digital to manual, makes time in her busy schedule for me to ask her a few questions regarding her personal life, passions, and how she started her career in photography.   (more…)

This isn’t your typical font made up of pixels or vectors. Here, Greek photographer Anastasia Mastrakouli uses her own body to create an alphabet of her own by positioning herself behind foggy piece of glass. Resulting in a steamy font, check out her website to see the rest of the alphabet.

Overexposed photos with skewed angles and overlapping floral patterns are the key elementsof LA’s Amanda Charchian’s ‘Rose Ascension’ series. In her own words:

“I aim to investigate the state of alienation through realms of the physical, psycho-social and spiritual human condition. Employing 2D and 3D mediums to transmit mystical experience into matter, my art practice is a means of communicating the subconscious sphere into objects; creating possible portals to ascend beyond known reality.”

Paper Leica M3 Pinhole Camera

Wednesday, July 20, 2011 by | No Comments | Category: Art, Photography

Can’t afford a Canon 5D?  Designer Matt Nicholson has devised a free alternative, the printable Paper Lie-ca M3 Pinhole Camera.  Print out the design online, chop, fold and tape into shape, then add a role of film and you’re shooting pinhole-style.  Sure, it may not yield anywhere near the fidelity of a legendary Leica, but pinhole photography can have pretty stunning effects. Well now you can have one because the template will be available for download from Lie-ca this week.

Behind the Iconic Photo [Photography]

I’ve tried to describe this photographer’s work, but it was beyond my grasp after seeing this photo within his body of work.
