It’s always funny when two worlds of yours collide.
Being a skateboarder for over 10 years now, I’ve been a fan of Steve Berra & Eric Koston for just as long. Their self-created meca of a TF, in which they so appropriately calls “The Berrics”, has (with the help of it’s incredibly dope website and it’s plethora of individually entertaining webseries) become more of a culture than “just a skatepark”.
I was put on the Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All back by my good friend (and fellow Greedmont blogger) Patrick Johnson. Aside from their eyebrow-raising-yet-inevitably-intriguing talk of rape, killing, and drugs, I was immediately fascinated by their whole buckwild, do what we want, stream-of-conscious persona. They’re like the Lost Boys in Hook, with Tyler The Creator as their Rufio.
To see these two cultures collide gives me a sense of comfort, almost. A feeling of understanding. I’m definitely not explaining it well enough, probably because I’m exhausted and I haven’t had my coffee yet. But enjoy the above clip, for it’s supplied one of the funniest quotes I’ve heard in a long fucking time:
“‘Who do you think is cooler, Justin Beiber or R. Kelly?’ GOTDAMN, that’s a hard one!” – Tyler, The Creator
