The power of the internet never ceases to amaze me. In a culture where “social networking” can often leave you overwhelmed with information and yet still unconnected. It was for this reason that I was happy to have been followed by the Couch Brothers.
I was instantly attracted to Electric Gypsy 2.1′s artwork. I hadn’t heard of the duo before, but the name reminded me of Devin The Dude’s Coughee Brothers. That is about as far as the comparisons went. The introduction track was “Time,” a smooth and soulful ballad that my uncle would jam, followed by “No One Cares,” a lyrical joint that reminded me of Black Thought of The Roots. This project incorporated many genres of music with precision. When Rock visited the Orchestra in “She (Hard Lovin’),” I was aware I was dealing with some hardcore music lovers.

Being from the Long Beach there’s a sense of pride I get from having Snoop as the neighborhood hero..shoutout to Sublime and Cold War Kids as well but I’d be lying if I said I’ve enjoyed the last few Snoop Dogg tracks that have leaked off his Doggumentary album or any of his side projects. None of them have connected with me whatsoever. Until this one dropped, that is. Sounding more Detox than the actual tracks leaked from Detox (which could be a total mess..a mess that Kendrick won’t be able to clean up -_-” ), this is the Snoop I’m looking for. The Snoop I enjoy. Not to mention, DJ Khalil is making better Dre beats than Dre as of late.
Pairing back up with Devin the Dude, whom he’s collabed with on “Fuck You” and “What A Job”, Snoop also enlisted Chicago-crooner Kobe, who’s been killin baby pandas n shit lately, to lace the hook. Kobe, who’s making a run to fill Nate Dogg’s shoes (at least anytime DJ Khalil is involved), could be having his best year ever. Too bad he aint get no invite to the video – much like Devin when his verse was cut from the “Fuck Faces” video some 12 years ago. But before we watch the feature presentation lets visit the Snoop & Dre we all fucked with hardbody from S.O.S to Rollin 20s to the heart of the white girls.
