Zimbabwean-born rapper and producer Zulu Faz has come together with The DJBooth, Greedmontpark and The Jeanocide to bring listeners his latest street album, The Hill Complex.
Named after the spiritual center of the ruined city of Great Zimbabwe, the project finds the artist using the historic structure as a metaphor for his quest to build a name for himself in the game. The set features 12 original cuts (plus one bonus track), Joining Zulu Faz on the guest tip throughout The Hill Complex are Amadi Jae, Tawny Powell, John Anthony, A.Ware, Session and Young Jay. In addition to beats by the artist himself (both individually and as one-half of duo Kaotiq Simfoni, made up of Zulu and brother Zimbabwe Kev), the project features guest beats by Javis FauX, Session and Megaboy Alpha. With the project dropping on Monday, April 30th. We felt it was only right to release “Cruise Control” For a young man who has been rapping for a year and some change I feel that Zulu is getting better and I encourage everybody to tune in on Monday when we drop the project at noon. The Light is about persevering and finding your way out of uncertain circumstances, through the light and purpose inside of you can make it past their struggles. Life is fickle and as people we often find ourselves under circumstances that test our spirit and will. The Light is that experience within that gives someone the ability to rise above personal obstacles and gives them strength to overcome their obstacles, a pivotal display of will and strength we’ve seen from many people in history. The song is an anthem for those people in the pursuit of their pivotal moment and is a proclamation that if anyone moves towards their goal they will get past their struggles and rise above and this is all achieved by finding the light.
